The Blogger Awards

Photography by Fikri Radzuan

One morning, I woke up feeling all lazy. As usual, my hand gravitated to grab my phone. I checked up Instagram to see new updates on my timeline, I checked up Whatsapp to see whether there's a new message or not and some other generic social medias except for Twitter. After I had my shower before I get ready to work, my instinct told me to check Twitter and guess what? I was nominated by Liyana from Rouge and Ruche for The Blogger Awards.

Hold your horses, no, this is not a physical award where bloggers will receive the generic trophies but instead, this is a platform created by bloggers to network with other bloggers. In other words, bloggers will answer questions asked and later nominate other bloggers.

Here are the rules for this post

1 . Tag the bloggers that nominate you

2. Answer the questions you were given

3. Nominate 10 Bloggers

4. Create new questions for your nominees to answer

5. Inform the bloggers that you have nominate them

Liyana have chosen some amazing questions so let's get started, shall we?

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS WITH YOUR BLOG?

The word SUCCESS itself is very subjective. Different people found different things and claim it to be successful. For me personally, I feel successful when people know me through my blog. When I first started my blog - it was The Scout Rebellion when I first started - I received a few comments over at my articles and I was proud and flattered with the comments received. At that time, I feel that that was succesful already.

Now, I feel my blog is successful when people around me come to me and say 'I read your latest article and it was amazing!' or sometimes I wake up in the morning and receive random messages from my friends saying 'My mom was watching "Love, Vivy" and I showed her your website and she thinks that you're doing a good job, congrats bro' and I think that is successful already.

Everything is always 'in progress' so I believe that my success is 'in progress' too.

DESCRIBE YOUR TOP 3 BLOGGING HABITS

1. I have written a few articles and have put them on scheduled but when the date comes, I rescheduled them until I am ready to finally 'Publish' it - or sometimes I forgot it was on schedule and just leave it there.

2. Before I write a new article, I often go through some blogs and try to find my inspirations. After I got what I need, I will plan out the whole photo shoot for the article - sometimes I end up using Google images.

3. This one is classic. Before I write an article, I will do a photo shoot regarding the article that I am going to write. Basically, after the shoot is done and the editing part is finished, I will upload the pictures into the draft. As I am going to write the article, my train of thoughts washed away and I end up with an unfinished article. The last resort is to use the pictures but for another article - I guess this is my habit...?

NAME SOMETHING THAT YOU WISH SOMEONE TOLD YOU ABOUT BLOGGING BEFORE YOU STARTED

Ah, this is a good one. Before I take blogging seriously, I used to have a personal blog where I post mostly personal thoughts and some other random stuff - If you're wondering what happened to that blog, it has been deleted - but on August 2015, I took a a very big leap on starting my own blog to focus on the fashion side of me.

Back to the question, I wished that someone would told me to choose the right name for my blog. Well, I started as The Scout Rebellion and then changed it to The Blank Denim but that was not enough for me. After doing a lot of brainstorming by myself, I came out with a good and distinctive name that would be the brand of myself, Blankologie

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU WANT TO GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO START A BLOG?

My advice would be....to be happy. (see the Beyonce lyrics reference there?)

Back to the question, I would advice for everyone who wants to start blogging, START NOW. You will never know when you will be ready to start blogging unless you take the leap and start it right away.

Blogging is never an easy hobby from my point of view. You need to choose the right name for your brand, the niche that you are going to have as your foundation and preparing the content for your blog but as I've said, I started my blog with a different name and end up with what you're seeing now.

Blogging is always a learning process for me ; how to produce a good quality pictures for your content, finding the outfit that you want other people to get inspirations from, giving an honest review of a particular product you're reviewing and some other technical stuff such as photography and editing.

If I didn't take the leap to start blogging, I couldn't imagine when I would learn on photography and editing. I couldn't imagine when I would learn to improve my writing skills and whatnot.

My advice : START BLOGGING NOW

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BLOG GOING IN THE LONG TERM?

This is a tough one.

Honestly, what I can see is that Blankologie will get a lot more recognition from the public eye as a blog that brings inspirations to men - or the non-average men like me. In a more realistic perspective, I can see that somewhere in the future, people will not know me by my name but they will know me by my blog.

'You're the guy who writes on Blankologie, right?'

Yup, that's right!

For this award, I can't nominate 10 bloggers but these are the bloggers that I'm nominating :

Brandon from BrandurnSo
Robert from LanuzaJr
Dianna from VanityRoomBlog
Salman from Salman Dean
Najiha from VanityAku
Vanessa from Oh My Vans

My questions are :

1. What makes you started blogging?
2. Apart from blogging, what are the other things that you enjoy?
3. What did you learn through blogging?
4. What is the back story of your brand/blog name?
5. Do you regret blogging? Why?

I am very excited to read your responses. Enjoy writing it

  1. Great answers and lovely photos! I learnt so many skills through blogging as well, I'm glad I took the leap to start Rouge & Ruche 2 years ago. I always feel really flattered when I get compliments on my work - people never really see how much effort goes into a single post and it feels really nice to have all that appreciated. Thank you for this, I enjoyed reading it! :-)
