Photography by Eyman Asyraf

I was contacted by Farfetch, an e-commerce website dedicated to fashion to show you guys my shoe collection. Farfetch has launched Farfetch Style Hub which consist a series on Fashion How-To videos. The first episode in their series is a video on How To Clean Your Shoes. The first episode is very useful for you guys who find it hard to keep your shoes clean. You can watch the tutorial on its website linked above.

To celebrate the Farfetch Style Hub series, I will show you my Top 5 Go To Shoes that I wear on a daily basis and show you guys on some shoe hacks that you can gather from your own home - or maybe purchase it ? I mean, it's really up to you.

As you guys know, I am still a student. I have 5 different shoes on rotation to fit each day's college attire.

On Monday, I need to wear a formal attire thus a good leather derby shoes fits well with my outfit. This brown leather derby from Pedro was a gift from my grandfather to me as my 20th birthday present. I treasure this shoe very well since it's a very unique shoe, at least for me.

On Tuesday onwards, I can basically wear anything as long as my outfit fits the guidelines written by the administration. So what I will wear despite my outfit? Well, of course all 4 of these shoes. The first one is a pair of classic leather white trainers from Reebok. I really love this trainers as it fits almost all of my outfit.

The next pair of trainers is a total bargain for me. This is a trainers from Reebok Ventilator in collaboration with Basquiat. I bought this trainers from a friend because he no longer uses the shoe. Plus, he kept the shoe on his display shelf so I decided to jump in and purchase it from him. A man's trash is another man's treasure - or at least he did not trash it away. I mean, I purchased it from him.

This is totally my latest pair of trainers that I bought at Zara before I celebrate the Eid Mubarak. This pair of trainers is the most easiest to wear out of all shoes. It doesn't have any laces thus reduce my time on tying my shoes. I got a lot of compliments wearing this trainers which makes me love this shoe more and more.

Aha, my one and only pair of boots and it's from Firetrap. I got this when I turned 19 as a gift from my dad. I often wear this boots whenever my outfit feels like it needs to spice up by a tiny bit. The leather of this boots is so durable. What I like about this boots is that it gives me the masculine vibe despite it being all simple. It ties my outfit a lot.

Before I go, let me share with you guys my own personal shoe hacks. All of the items mentioned are available in your home, too!

How To Keep Your White Trainers Clean

Sometimes, keeping a white trainers clean is a hustle. Here's my way on how I clean my white trainers from being an old dirty footwear to a clean & crisp white trainers.

Items You Need :
- an old Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Water
- Shoe Shampoo

Instructions :

1. Brush off the surface of your trainers using the old toothbrush to eliminate minute dusts.

2. Apply the toothpaste onto the toothbrush and start brushing your trainers.

3. After you've brushed every surface area, leave the toothpaste to dry for 15 minutes.

4. After 15 minutes, wash the surface of your trainers using water.

5. Leave you trainers to dry.

OR

1. Repeat Step #1 from above.

2. Use the shoe shampoo to brush all the dirt from your trainers.

3. Make sure to rinse off all the bubbles as it traps the dirt from your trainers.

4. Leave you shoe to dry.

Keep Your Shoes Smells Fresh

If you go to the gym and work out, I believe that your shoe will smell stinks. Here's how I get rid of the awful stinky smell from my shoes.

Items You Need :
- Coffee Ground or Dry Tea Bags
- Clean cloth

Instructions :

1. Make sure to dry your shoe under the sun for a few hours. Let the moisture evaporates.

2. Sprinkle about a teaspoon of coffee ground into your shoe. Before doing so, do make sure that your shoe is dry.

3. Leave the coffee ground overnight. Store your shoe away from the sun, preferably in a box.

4. Lastly, tap your shoes to get rid of the coffee ground. Use a clean cloth to wipe the inside of your shoe before wearing it.

OR

1. Repeat Step #1 from above.

2. Insert 2 dry tea bags in your shoe for each foot.

3. Leave the shoe overnight.

4. The next morning, take out the tea bags.

Voila, your shoes smells fresh now.

Moisturising Leather Shoe

I notice that whenever I wear my leather derby shoes, the surface is dry that it looks so ugly. So here's my way on how to keep my leather shoes moisturised and this method will also help to prolong your leather shoes from cracking.

Items You Need :
- Petroleum Jelly or an expired face moisturiser
- Shoe brush
- Clean cloth

Instructions :

1. Clean your shoes by brushing off the dirt from your shoes.

2. Apply the petroleum jelly (alternative : expired face moisturiser) by using a clean cloth and wipe it all over your shoes.

3. Buff all the products by using a shoe brush.

4. Leave your shoes overnight. Store it in its shoe box or in a shoe cabinet.

5. The next morning, your shoes are good to go.

Disclaimer : Use a hydrating face moisturiser instead of a mattifying moisturiser. A Mattified moisturiser will leave your leather shoe dry.

Drying Your Shoe

Sometimes when I go out to settle all my errands, my shoes get all moisture from all the sweats from my feet. How do I keep my shoes dry ? Well, here's my way on keeping the inner of my shoes all dry.

Items You Need :
- Baking Soda a.k.a Soda Bicarbonate
- Clean Cloth

Instructions :

1. Leave your shoes dry under your fan for a few hours.

2. Pour 2 tea spoon of Soda Bicarbonate in each foot. Before doing so, make sure that the inside of your shoe is moderately dry.

3. Store your shoes in your shoe cabinet or in its box. Leave your shoes for 2-3 days.

4. Lastly, tap off your shoes to remove the Soda Bicarbonate. Use a clean cloth to wipe of excess Soda Bicarbonate inside your shoes.

Fact : Soda Bicarbonate acts as a vacuum for a moisturised surface. It sucks out all the moisture and leaves the surface dry.

Hope that all the shoe hacks would help you in the future.
