I Just Want To Be Your Symphony

Recently, I've been getting a lot of questions on how I edit my photos on Instagram. Before I tell you my holy grail apps that I use to edit, I just wanna let you know that it took me a lot of trial and errors on editing pictures to get the aesthetic that I currently have in my Instagram.

Before we go further, the important thing is how and what I use to take my pictures with. Most of my pictures were taken using my DSLR camera. Mine is Nikon D5100 + 50mm f/1.8G lens. That's how I get most of the "bokeh" effect on my pictures - also known as the blurry background. I have to admit that not all of my pictures have the bokeh effect but using the 50mm lens with a big aperture have helped me on getting the desirable pictures.

If I'm not using my DSLR camera, I'll take my pictures using my iPhone 5S camera. Most of the pictures that I take using my phone would be flatlay pictures.

Once I have all the photos that I need, I'll transfer the photos into my laptop. Here goes the first step.

Adobe Lightroom

I import my pictures from the designated folder into my Adobe Lightroom. Using Lightroom, I apply the 'Lens Correction' filter to filter out any vignette. Note that you have to search on your own for the filters since Adobe only provides the basic filters.

Here's the next steps :

1. I increase the exposure of the picture if it's too dark. Most of the pictures taken will be underexposed - which is better than it being overexposed

2. Tweak the Contrast, Temperature, White, Black Shadows. Each settings varies on different pictures.

3. I increase Colour Saturation for Red & Orange while I decrease all other unnecessary colours that I don't want it to pop out in my pictures. The colours are Green, Blue, Magenta, Violet Aqua.

4. Repeat step 1-3 on each pictures.

After I have finish editing all the necessary pictures, I'll synchronize the pictures that I want into my iPhone. Here comes the next app.

Facetune

Facetune is another holy grail apps that I use to edit my pictures before I upload it on Instagram. Do note that you have to purchase this app before downloading it in Appstore.

Here are the steps :

1. Use the Whiten settings to whiten my background. This will cancel out any blue or yellow hues on the picture.

2. I go the Filter setting and choose BW Silver. After tapping, the pictures will immediately turn to black & white. I go to Wipe and wipe out my skin to it's original colour. If I'm wearing any other coloured clothes, I will wipe it out too.

3. The end result would be my in colours while my background is in Black & White.

To sum things up, my editing process are quite simple and straight forward. Contrary to popular belief, not all blogger uses VSCO cam's filter on their pictures. Throughout my uploads in Instagram, I have received a lot of compliments on my editing which many thought that I use VSCO cam filters.

5 Things I Learned Through Blogging

What I Learned Being Single

Each year, I created a wishlist for myself to achieve. I have to admit that this wishlist is very materialistic but that is who I am ; I appreciate tangible items more than intangible values.

Last year, I managed to get almost 70% of my wishlist. Some of the items that I didn't get was because I grew out to not like it, making me decide to not purchase it.

For the year 2017, I've created a list of things that I want - not necessarily need - with hope that in the months to come, I'll be able to get it.

Saint Laurent AW16 T-rex Wool Sweatshirt

I have to admit, I fell in love with this sweatshirt when I first tried it on in Saint Laurent Pavilion KL boutique. The only thing I don't like about this sweatshirt is that it makes my skin itchy but the sales associate told me to wear a long sleeve t-shirt underneath it and it won't be a problem. The colour suits me since red is my favourite colour. The design is quite a staple for Saint Laurent's collection.

Price : 640GBP ( approx. RM3540 )

Saint Laurent Signature Court Classic Sneakers with Star Patches in All White

This is a pair of sneakers that I have tried it on when I paid a visit to the Saint Laurent boutique in Pavilion KL. I have to be honest, at first, I never liked this sneakers but I began to grow my love for it when I kept on seeing the sneakers whenever I close my eyes ; yes I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true!

Like I've said in my 'Tips on Purchasing Your First Designer Sneakers' , I only opted for either a white or a black pair of sneakers. I'll never go for colours other than those. The major detail that I love about this sneaker is that it has a very minimal branding on it.

Price : 410GBP ( approx. RM2270 )

Saint Laurent SL/37 Stud-trimmed Distressed Sneakers

Remember when Hedi Slimane debuted the 'dirty sneaker' look during the SS16 Runway show for the Saint Laurent Men's Collection? Well, I cringed watching the model wore the sneaker at that moment but I don't know why, I began to love it when I realised that a distressed look on a sneaker looks very appealing to me. And yes, I love the stud details on the tongue.

Price : 385GBP ( approx RM2130 )

Gucci Ace Flame Sneakers

Let's cut it, it looks outrageous, am I right? I guess the flames attracted me in a very unusual way. When I saw my favourite blogger bought this same pair in cream, I icked in disgust. When I did my research about the sneakers, I found out that it has another colourway which is in black and I fell in love instantly.

Might cop this in this year but I'm still hesitating.

Price : 485GBP ( approx. RM2680 )

Dior Sauvage Fragrance

My wishlist is not complete if I didn't include a fragrance that I'm dying to get. Last year was all about Viktor & Rolf's Spicebomb while this year, I aim to purchase Dior Sauvage. Every time I enter Dior Beauty Boutique in KLCC, I kept on spraying Dior Sauvage on me & I fell in love with the scent. To my surprise, it lasts more than 12 hours on my skin - I even took my bath one time and the scent still sticks on the back of my hand

If I ever buy this perfume, I'll definitely make a whole review about the perfume.

Price : 50GBP for 60ml ( approx. RM270 )
